5G research and development has made multiple progress, and network commercialization is expected to land ahead of schedule
Time:2025-02-06

At present, China has made a series of positive progress in 5G vision, demand, concept, wireless technology, network framework structure, and other aspects. With China's continuous efforts in the 5G industry, the industry recently believes that the commercialization time of 5G will be advanced from 2020 to 2019.

On the morning of April 26th, the State Council Information Office held a press conference in the press conference hall of the State Council Information Office, inviting relevant officials from the

Operations Monitoring and Coordination Bureau and the Information and Communication Development Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to introduce the

development of the industrial communication industry in the first quarter of 2017. Wen Ku, Director of the Information and Communication Development Department of the Ministry of Industry

and Information Technology, stated that the ministry is currently working closely to coordinate research on other 5G related frequency bands.

At present, China has made a series of positive progress in 5G vision, demand, concept, wireless technology, network framework structure and other aspects, and the main viewpoints have also

been recognized by peers internationally. Recently, China has made significant progress in 5G, especially with the initial launch of 5G research and development trials last year, and the successful

completion of early stage 5G trials in September last year, which involved the verification and testing of some technical concepts.

Nowadays, China's 5G research and development has entered the second phase of testing, with a greater emphasis on the integration and feasibility of technical solutions, that is, integrating these

technologies together to test 5G performance and indicators. At present, a 5G test field has been planned in Huairou, Beijing, and site planning for 30 stations has been completed, which can basically

meet the requirements of single station and network performance testing in the field.

With China's continuous efforts in the 5G industry, the industry believes that the commercialization of 5G will be advanced from 2020 to 2019, and large-scale deployment of 5G networks will begin

at that time. Strictly speaking, it is the deployment of 5G pre commercial networks. China has a large coverage area, and even if it is a trial network, the 5G network has a much larger network scale

than foreign operators, "said Meng Pu, Chairman of Qualcomm China, in a recent media interview.

Meng Pu said that the industry used to believe that 2020 was the time for 5G commercialization. Now everyone can see the benefits that 5G brings to the industry, such as supporting autonomous

driving and deploying a large number of intelligent terminals. There is a great demand in the industry to advance the time. At the end of February this year, Qualcomm and more than 20 major

operators and manufacturers in the industry reached an agreement to solidify the 5G New Radio (NR) standard in the 3GPP standard organization before the end of this year, laying a foundation for

the commercial deployment of 5G in 2019, which is one year ahead of the previously recognized commercial time of 5G in 2020.

You should know that 5G's subversion of mobile Internet is a gradual evolution process, and it will also lead to countless new applications and new models. For example, a car traveling at a speed of

100 kilometers per hour will need to move a distance of 2.8 centimeters from detecting obstacles to activating the braking system under 5G network conditions. Therefore, the early commercialization

of 5G is undoubtedly good news.

To implement this prediction, there are two main tasks for the development of China's 5G industry in the next step:

On the one hand, it is necessary to promote the development and testing of the second phase of technology research and development, to carry out the research and development and testing of

wireless air ports and network technology solutions for the three typical 5G scenarios of mobile Internet, low latency, high reliability and low power consumption, and to introduce domestic and

foreign chip and instrument manufacturers to jointly promote the maturity of the 5G industry chain. It is expected that the second phase of testing will be completed by the end of 2017. On the other

hand, it is necessary to further increase efforts in technology research and development, open cooperation, and integrated innovation. Under the framework of ITU and 3GPP, we should actively

promote the formation of a globally unified 5G standard and work together with domestic and foreign industries to promote the development of the mobile communication industry.
